The Chinese Checker...

The perceptions of an increasingly feel good atmosphere in the relations between India and China since the Copenhagen summit of last year should not divert attention from the ground reality, which continues to be marked by the Chinese leadership’s determination to strengthen the feeling of security of Pakistan vis-à-vis India, to maintain a nuclear balance between India and Pakistan and to counter the reported plans of the Indian Army to develop a capability for a two-front war with a counter Sino-Pakistani capability to pose a two-front threat to India.
The talk in India of an increasingly feel- good atmosphere has been caused by the absence of seemingly hostile rhetoric in China’s pronouncements regarding India, the warmth extended to our President, Mrs. Pratibha Patil, during her recent visit to China to mark the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the balanced Chinese response to the restrictions sought to be imposed by India on the award of sensitive telecommunication contracts to Chinese companies. Chinese reactions to developments such as the reported approval of the government of India to the Army’s proposal to raise two new mountain divisions, deployment of Air Force units to protect Arunachal Pradesh and the Indian debate over a possible two front doctrine have been relatively free of polemics.
This feel good atmosphere and the restrained language on both sides as contrasted with the rhetoric of last year need to be welcomed and ought to continue. At the same time, it will be unwise to let our focus move away from disturbing elements in China’s policy towards Pakistan and Islamabad’s expectations from China, which have become evident recently.
The first disturbing element is China’s continued assistance to Pakistan to expand its reprocessing capability, which will further add to its military nuclear capability. The second is its surprising decision after a four-year hesitation to respond positively to Pakistan’s repeated requests for two more nuclear power stations similar in design and capacity to Chashma-I and Chashma-II. Chashma-I has already been commissioned. Chashma-II is under construction.
The international community and the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), which China joined in 2004, could not object to Chashma I and II both of which were justified by China as already on-going projects when it joined the NSG and hence not subject to the ban on the supply of nuclear equipment and technologies to States which are not signatories of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Chinese attempts initiated in 2006 to give two more nuclear power stations to Pakistan under the same 1991 contract were objected to by the administration of Mr. George Bush. The US objections were taken note of by Beijing, which put in cold storage its proposal for giving two more nuclear power stations to Pakistan without abandoning it.
In a surprise decision earlier this year, China decided to take this proposal out of the cold storage and go ahead with it after informing the NSG--without seeking its formal approval-- at the plenary meeting of the NSG in New Zealand this week. The indications from Beijing are that the Chinese Government would go ahead with its move even if there be objections from the NSG. Whether the two additional nuclear power stations would be part of the old contract beyond the purview of the NSG or would have to be under a new contract which could be concluded only with an exemption granted by the NSG is a matter of interpretation. Beijing seems to be determined to stick to its interpretation that these are part of the old contract beyond the purview of the NSG.
Intriguing questions for Indian analysts are: What made the Chinese political leadership, which was receptive to the concerns and views of the Bush Administration on this issue revive the proposal and go ahead with it even at the risk of misunderstanding with the Obama Administration? Was it pressure from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) not to let the balance of nuclear capabilities between India and Pakistan be upset in favor of India as a result of the Indo-US Civil nuclear co-operation agreement of 2005 and the subsequent lifting by the NSG of the restrictions on the sale of nuclear equipment and technology to India? Does the PLA view the continued maintenance of a nuclear balance between India and Pakistan as in China’s national interest?
It was Pakistan, which raised in 2006, when Gen.Pervez Musharraf was in power, the question of China maintaining the balance by supplying additional nuclear power stations to Pakistan if the US refused to extend to Pakistan the same consideration as it had extended to India. Now voices are being raised in Pakistan about the importance of Pakistan persuading China to lease out a nuclear-powered submarine to Pakistan to neutralize any advantage accruing to India by its reported efforts to lease a nuclear-powered submarine from Russia. This idea has also figured in an article written by Commander Muhammad Azam Khan, a retired officer of the Pakistan Navy, under the title “Options for the Pakistan Navy” which had appeared in the summer issue of the US Naval War College Review.
There is no evidence to indicate that Pakistan has formally taken up such an idea with the Chinese, but one has to closely monitor any developments having a bearing on this.
Sino-Indian atmospherics are better than they were last year, but that does not mean any significant change in Chinese perceptions and strategy relating to India and Pakistan. The improvement of relations with India has not diminished in the Chinese eyes the importance of strengthening Pakistan’s conventional and nuclear capabilities against India.

A Year of Ups and Down for INDIA...

Sports seldom leads that sort of separate existence. This was especially true in 2010. A year that will forever be associated with India sporting highs. India's best ever performance at CWG (in the ground and off the ground too) & Asian Games, 38G-27S-36B & 14G-17S-33B respectively. In Hockey India share Sultan Ajlan Shah Cup, A premier hockey championship with South Korea. Golfer Arjun Atwal become the first Indian to lift PGA Tour, Wyndhan Championship. Saina Nehwal creates history in badminton by winning Super Series and Indian Grand Prix. Indian Boxer lifts no. of medals through out the year in various events. Mary Com and Vijendra Singh lift the Indian Flag up. Somedev Varman and Rohan Boppana did good in Tennis with their performance. Viswanathan Anand retain world title. A religion in India "Cricket" a gainful year for Indian Cricket for nine consecutive series The Team India hasn't been conquered and retain its No. 1 rank in test cricket. A million dollar valet Sachin Tendulkar scores landmark 50th century in South Africa.
Now its time to flip the coin, No of hiccups have been seen by India too. lets start with the congress biggest defeat when it comes to deliver in 2010, after winning the 206 lok sabha seats with a thick vote base of 29%, 'What a compliment and reward it paid to common people well known as "Aam Admi". Inflation in basic commodities are on sky high....and feather in cap no. of scam by our greedy politician. CWG scam, 2G spectrum scam and Adarsh Society scam- tells the success story of Indian Politician how to raise fund in the swiss bank account- few of them. And so called 'aam admi' can read this in news paper and curse the govt. standing out side the local tea kiosk. Before summing up this article...would like to share my thoughts on judgment that risk tainting democracy of India.

The life imprisonment sentence awarded to the eminent Doctor and right activist Binayak Sen on flimsy charges. We support 'Aung Suu Kyi' who has been fighting for the restoration of the democracy in Myanmar, but imprison our own right activist, who has contributed immensely by serving the poor. It brings the memory of British Regime of 1922 when Mahatma Gandhi was imprison for sedition. Dr. Sen raised his voice agasinest injustice and worked for poor, Is this the way to treat him?
well, all in all a year of down and down for India, looking forward with best hopes in next 365 days....

PUNE...@....NIGHT

She is not hot, you could describe her as cool as ice and as pretty as moon. ppl desire her, but she never refuse, she takes them in her arms, she loves them even they cheated on her. I am also one of the ppl who loves pune, my love affair with pune started almost three years back in 2007, when i went to symbi for my graduation. forget the days grime and traffic, my pune shines @ night. Though i am not from pune and studies brought me to my darling, fortunately i got time to indulge in city's beauty.
as i was the part and parcel of the city still explored every inch of this city from dawn to dusk as a student and for fun too...I have seen grime, road widening, construction, lavish villas, sizzling parties, corporate honchos, ladies of the night and ppl who are struggling to get their daily bread.

Why Pune is so special?

after exploring the city so well i can say that city had two faces, a city buzzing like a bee during day and as calm and silent as it might be inside a womb as night. if you want too see the charm of real pune step out for a stroll at night and you will be amazed. of-course there are traps, but what is a city with out a few tragedies?
yellow traffic signals, couples going to lonavala during night, WadaPav, comesome @ night, tea in tiny plastic cup with your favorite cancer stick, hangouts, parties, BBQ, mainland china, post 91, KP, Kalyani nagar, NDA, Banjara Hills, instant Goa Trips, flag, hotel Arora towers, MG Rode, HRC and of-course Viman nagar....a never ending list...
The time, i spent there  i really admire this city and probable understand why ppl end up liking this city despite so many infrastructural and developmental problems..

Love U Pune!!!

From Dilli to New Delhi(1911-2011)

..a saga of 100 years....

A hundred years ago, the British Monarch King George chose a few village of Delhi to make him self emperor of India, and lead the foundation of what it is now-'New Delhi'.
In next 36 years the legacy of British empire were all gone and what left behind is DILLI with no. of decades and ideas to grow.
The Viceroy's residence now Rastrapati Bhavan, the signature circular structure of Parliament house then called Council House. The majestic India Gate all were built before India became Independent.
Chawari Bajar, Chandni Chowk, Red Fort and Canought Place brings the memory of Mugal and British Milieu. As the time passes Delhi spread its territory-by merging the no. of villages around it self-as a planned city. Now these villages posses the most expensive properties now a days. With wide road, Delhi Metro, Nice Infrastructure and zealous youth like feather in the cap.
As the people coming down across the Nation, Delhi is moving towards a new era. Here in Delhi nothing is permanent except 'CHANGES'  which starts long back in 1911 and still continue...
